Description
Module/Solution Overview
UbiSmart is a technological solution able to collect data from different sensors in the environment and to transfer the data to a remote server able to extract low elementary actions performed by the elderly in his environment indoor and outdoor. The recognition of elementary actions is based on a semantic reasoning engine with a description of the environment and a set of rules defined by an expert.
Innovation
The ubiSmart framework has the advantage to be dynamic and easy to deploy. It is easy to install a set of sensors in the living environment of the ageing person and to configure their use through specific UI in an average of 15 min. The framework offers a set of services installed as plugins. New services could easily be included as plugins.
Business Impact
The objective of this solution is to maintain the active life of ageing people and delay their move to the frailty and dependence period. This could be very beneficial in reducing expenses on home services or for their move to nursing homes.
Interoperability
The ubiSmart framework is able to exchange low elementary actions and measures with other systems using web services such as the city4age repository. It is also able to exchange data with different sensors’ gateways using MQTT lightweight communication protocol.
Stakeholders profile
The ubiSmart framework could be installed in the living environment of ageing people in the city and in their houses. It can also be accessed by professional and family caregivers to follow daily activities of the followed ageing person and have an overview on the ageing people daily routines.
Competitors
Different solutions for activity recognition exist in the market. The advantage of the ubiSmart solution is it extendibility through the services’ plugins approach which allow to include new specific services. It also provide a plug & play service which ease the deployment and configuration of new sensors in the environment of the followed person.
